Downhill Biking Weekend in Orcieres in the French Alps

The Southern Alps downhill mountain biking weekend is a fantastic mountain biking experience for mountain bikers who want to push their boundaries and shred some single track in a dramatic mountain environment!

It gets serious from day 1 when you meet your guides who will equip you with full body protection, a high quality downhill bike and take you out on the slopes and tracks for some real downhill mountain biking fun. Each day you will spend half a day with your guide and instructor for a progressive experience exploring your limits and the bike park of Orcieres.

For your free time, you have unlimited access to the resort and bike park to test out the trails and tracks and practice the skills you have learnt in your guided seances. You can also take advantage of the 5 famous freeride enduro routes taking right to the bottom of the valley and use the free shuttle to get back up.

You will make your own way to Orcieres where you will check into your accommodation and then spend the evening strolling around the resort and checking out the bars and restaurants.

Each day you will go out with your guide for half a day guided biking. The aim is to progress throughout your stay to more and more advanced techniques adapted to your starting level. Your guide will give you top tips for downhill biking in full security whilst having as much fun as you can. Control and confidence are the name of the game. Some people will progress to tricks and stunts in the bike park, whilst others will enjoy managing technical descents safely and confidently enough to be able to tackle long enduro rides.

The downhill biking sessions lasts for a full on half a day and you will be tired afterwards. For your free time after your session you have access to the resort and bike part to bike at your leisure.

For your afternoons around your biking lessons, you also have your downhill bike which you can use for more self-guided biking. Enduro bikers will love the big freeride descents all the way from the top of the resort down to the bottom of the valley - 1300m of pure technical descent. 

There are also a range of other activities in the resort or nearby that we can help organise for you if you are interested. There's the giant zip line, paragliding, the swimming lake in the valley accessible on the free shuttle from the resort (or by bike). Further away there's canyoning, climbing, via ferrata and more - just ask us for info on these activities if you want to include other adventures.

There's also a great swimming pool in resort and some beautiful walks if you want a break from biking! Wherever you go and whatever you choose, you will be greeted by spectacular mountain views.

On your last day you will finish your guided session at midday and still have your bike and pass until the end of the afternoon. You can maximise your stay by adding on an extra night (please ask us about this when you book, or if you are pressed for time, head back to Gap and get an evening train or the night train (if you are heading back to Paris) for your onward journey.
