Downhill Mountain Biking and Activity Holiday in Orcieres the French Alps

The Southern Alps downhill mountain biking trip is a fantastic mountain biking experience for mountain bikers who want to push their boundaries and shred some single track in a dramatic mountain environment with the option to discover some other mountain adventures!

It gets serious from day 1 when you meet your guides who will equip you with full body protection, a high quality downhill bike and take you out on the slopes and tracks in ability groups for some real downhill mountain biking fun. Each day you will spend half a day with your guide and instructor for a progressive experience exploring your limits and the bike park of Orcieres.

For the rest of your free time, including your free day, you have activity points to spend as you please to add a little extra adventure to your trip. Why not try something completely different like paragliding or canyoning, or if you just want to bike, for your free day, why not use them to hire a top quality full suspension electric bike hire and explore the high altitude lakes away from the pistes.

We will organise these additional activities and personalise your itinerary around these. Please note some of the extra activities are outside of the resort and you would need a car to get to them. If you are travelling on public transport, please ask our advice on which activities to choose. We can arrange taxis if required (extra cost).

Once you have booked and chosen your individual activities, we will send everything you need for your personalised downhill mountain biking trip in an App for your smartphone so you have everything at your finger tips from weather to kit lists even before you arrive.

You will make your own way to Orcieres where you will check into your accommodation and then spend the evening strolling around the resort and checking out the bars and restaurants.

You'll collect your e-bike from the same place you'll be going for your 3 day downhill biking course, which start on Tuesday.

You can go where you like with your e-bike but we would highly recommend riding up to the high altitude lakes above the resort. We'll provide you information on the routes which you will have access to via your smartphone App. The routes are all way-marked so they are easy to follow and it is a fantastic ride to get your biking legs in action, acclimatise yourself with the altitude, get oriented in the resort and mountains and see some spectacular scenery.

This is a free day to try out some of the other activities in the area. You can have a go at canyoning, via ferrata, paragliding, climbing or spend your activity points on an extra day biking or e-biking. There's also a great swimming pool in resort and some beautiful walks if you want a more relaxing free day! Wherever you go and whatever you choose, you will be greeted by spectacular mountain views.

Each day (except for your free day)  you will go out with your guide for half a day guided biking. The aim is to progress throughout your stay to more and more advanced techniques adapted to your starting level. Your guide will give you top tips for downhill biking in full security whilst having as much fun as you can. Control and confidence are the name of the game. Some people will progress to tricks and stunts in the bike park, whilst others will enjoy managing technical descents safely and confidently enough to be able to tackle long enduro rides.

In general children aged between 8 and 12 will have their sessions in the morning and teenagers and adults will have their sessions in the afternoons.

The downhill biking sessions lasts for a full on half a day and you will be tired afterwards. For your free time after or before your session you can use your activity points and do something else or just relax in resort and enjoy the pure mountain air.

After yesterday, your guide will have got a good feel for your level and you'll go out full on for another full on session pushing your boundaries to the limit and testing out your newfound techniques and skills.

Your guide will take you to new parts of the resort or to the bike park to try out some tricks and stunts.

You will now be familiar with the resort and the various tracks and trails you want to test out. Your guide will give you more tips to improve and hone your skills so you can make the most of the resort and shred those single tracks!

Unless you have booked in more guided biking for tomorrow, this is your last day with your guide so make the most of him or her and squeeze out all those valuable tips!

You have activity points include in your package which you can use for a wide range of activities.

For your afternoons or mornings around your biking days, you also have your downhill bike which you can use for more self-guided biking. Enduro bikers will love the big descent all the way from the top of the resort down to the bottom of the valley - 1300m of pure technical descent. 

Or, why not exchange your activity points for a thrilling ride on the giant tyrolean zip line or a tandem paragliding experience to add on a bit of extra adrenalin to your trip.

For your free day you have time to go a bit further afield and test out some other alpine activities like canyoning, via ferrata, or climbing.  Or, you can spend your activity points on more biking. Why not hire a full suspension e-bike and ride up to the high altitude lakes above the resort. 

Please note that transport to activities outside of resort (canyoning, via ferrata, climbing, rafting etc) is not included but we can organise taxis for you if required and can advise on which activities are closest to the resort.

 After breakfast it's time to say farewell and head home with a smile on a nicely tanned face and a pair of rather tired legs!
