After studying many different carbon offsetting programmes and schemes, we discovered that it was difficult to find one with a clear and transparent use of the carbon offsetting contribution. Then we discovered Mossy Earth! Mossy Earth have a completely transparent tree planting and re-wilding project for travellers to offset their carbon footprint. They plant native trees in deforested areas or areas damaged by wildfires in different locations around Europe.

They provide you with a GPS coordinate and photo for each tree that is purchased so you can locate it on the map or even visit. When you book your holiday with Undiscovered Mountains, we will pass your email address and first name only to Mossy Earth so they can send you the details of your tree. Mossy Earth will not use your email address for any commercial marketing purposes unless you opt in. Your address will only be used to send you the details of the tree which is included in your package.

The Romanian Carpathian Mountains are the wildest mountain range in Europe, where we find the last unfragmented forests of Europe, the highest concentration of large carnivores and the richest biodiversity.

Sadly, following the forest restitution in 2005, massive clear- cuts have destroyed thousands of hectares in these Mountains. Mossy Earth's Healing Clear Cuts project aims to reforest and rewild those areas thatwere illegally logged while also protecting the existing richly bio-diverse old growth forests from further logging and poaching.
