There is no fixed day-to-day itinerary for our improvers paragliding course. The program will be entirely tailor made for you, and the instructors will set it based on your previous experience, progression speed, expectations and general ability. Here are the main objectives this course aims at achieving.
On the very first day of the course, your instructors will assess your general level. It may be that you haven't flown in a very long time, or that you have questions about this or that aspect of the activity, and the instructors will make sure that you're in full confidence before they go ahead with the improvers program.
One or two "tandem flights" can be organised for you on this first day to help you feeling totally comfortable again manoeuvring your paraglider in the air with your instructors' help.
To participate in the course you will need to get a FFVL (federation français de vol libre) license which covers your public liability whilst flying. This is not included in the price and will be the first thing you do with the instructors when you start as you adhere via the paragliding school. Costs vary from 35€ to 80€ depending on which format you choose.
Learn how to "Feel the Air"
Once this is done, the instructors will then focus on the most efficient techniques to help you acquire new, better ways of flying. With you flying in the air and the instructors on the ground, you will communicate via radio with walkie-talkies so you are in contact 100% of the time and can ask any question in any circumstance. A good way to build a strong confidence after just a few flights.
With this improvers course, the instructors' number one objective will be to teach you how to "feel the air" and fly safely. They will share their secrets so that you can safely envisage a flight by yourself, maintain and gain altitude with a pertinent use of the winds and thermal currents around you.
At the end of this course, you should be able to fly by yourself, gain and lose altitude, target a geographical point and land on it, and last but not least, assess whether the climatic conditions around you allow for a safe flight. You may still need guidance to help overcome unpredictable situations depending on your previous experience. Please note that to be fully independent in the air, it usually takes at least a month of intensive flying.
